Interactive Seminar in Disaster Readiness Planning for People with
Disabilities (half day)
The Interactive Seminar
includes the materials presented in First Steps, and continues
the inclusive readiness planning process, including how to establish
improved communication and coordination between disability
organizations and emergency management organizations. As a group,
participants will identify and discuss their primary concerns about
emergencies and disasters, and then use the Readiness Guide
to map out the most important initiatives they can take to improve
their readiness quickly.
(Can be combined with First Steps for a full
day experience).

Hands-on
Workshop (half day through
full day)
The Hands-on Workshop
is designed to review and modify existing emergency plans of
organizations providing services to people with disabilities.
Participating organizations and individuals will be encouraged to
bring their own planning documents to use as a basis for the
discussion. Participants will be provided with a readiness guide to
evaluate existing readiness, to identify opportunities for
improvement, and to begin working on revising their existing plan to
incorporate the needs of people with
disabilities.

Regional or Statewide Conference
(1 or 2 days)
This option
provides a turnkey regional or statewide conference on inclusive
emergency readiness for audiences that include responders, planners,
government officials, people with disabilities and their advocates.
DPC can provide all conference services including promotional
activities, on-line registration, program planning, coordination
with a local advisory committee, logistics, and staffing of
presenters and support staff. DPC will do as much or a little as
you need. .

On-site Technical Assistance
This option assists disaster readiness planning
teams to ensure appropriate provisions are included for people with
disabilities. The intact team training is focused on assisting the
planning team in a setting where issues can be openly debated,
discussed, decided and evaluated by the team. (Times
